frogger in regina

This is my blog from 2001 when I was living in Regina, Saskatchewan. When I landed, I had no job, little money and instant bills to pay. Much hilarity ensues...

Thursday, June 28

Sorry about that. There was absolutely no need for that.
I guess I was getting excited about the concept of leaving
town for 5 or 6 days. Just to get out. For the Canada Day
long weekend. Going to see Ron Sexsmith?!?
I think I'd like no less than Platinum Blonde please...!
Howzabout Trooper at Craven?

Wednesday, June 27

We've got a dark coloured car, and we're gonna be cruising to Saskatoon.
Funky, funky, funky, nobody's gonna stop us 'cause we're spunky.
Finally, going to S'toon. That's where all the good raves are. That's where
all the NORMAL people are....

Tuesday, June 26

A beautiful day. Not too hot, not too cool. Bureaucrats in casual dress mode
cavort in the small park downtown.
Tomorrow, I'll be going to Saskatoon. A three-hour ride. A more civilized
place where people are normal.
The city of Regina is losing its grip. Economic investors are leaving.
There's no reason to be here. Job rates are down. It's a buyer's market
for houses-people are leaving by the droves.
As I can tell by the fucked up way people drive...peelin' around a corner.
God, people smell here. Then they put on too much perfume.

Monday, June 25

After a nice relaxing weekend of basically doing nothing
'cause there's absolutely nothing to do here; I'm back
at it. Nose to the grindstone.
Saw three movies in the last three days.
Swordfish
Memento
Crimson Rivers

Crimson Rivers was the worst. Evil twin movies never agree with me.
After coming out of these movies, I realized I was in Regina.
What an anticlimatic feeling.
I have a feeling that I will be seeing a lot of movies during my stay here.
You come out of the theatre realizing that all you could really do
is to go hang out at the Robin's Donuts across the street and listen
to people's heartaches and pains.

I am going to Saskatoon this week.
See you there.
